STEP 2 CK STUDY WORKFLOW

An adaptable eight-week Step 2 CK study plan.

This is an adaptable template, not an official recommendation: adjust its sequence, volume, and rest days to your own preparation needs.

Reviewed August 21, 2026

Treat eight weeks as a planning frame

Divide the period into two-week review cycles, with a modest baseline in the first cycle and a reassessment at the end of each cycle. Put required clinical duties, personal commitments, and recovery time on the calendar before deciding how much content belongs in a day.

Pair practice with organized review

Use practice results to select broad clinical topics for a second pass. Keep a short, original log of the skill to revisit and the source you will use; do not reproduce question prompts, answer choices, or publisher explanations in the log.

Rehearse the current interface

The USMLE May 2026 delivery update also describes a 30-minute interface change for Step 2 CK. Check the official update and current USMLE materials as your exam approaches, then use the information to plan your own timing practice.
